Recently, quite a few pharma news sources that I had come to rely on for years, no... make that decades had shuttered. Med Ad News, PharmaLive.com, Pharmalot, eKnowledgeBase and R&D Directions have all quietly ceased to exist. An email sent by UBM Canon in mid-December alerted customers to this business decision.
Just when I was starting to wonder where I'd turn to fill the void of pharma news, a wonderful announcement came in the form of a press release. Dan Becker, formerly of UBM Canon has founded Outcomes LLC who will carry on the Med Ad News publication and The Manny Awards ceremony along with the Annual Healthcare Communications Agency Issue due out in April.
Personally, I'm really excited that Dan Becker has stepped forward and so quickly too. I think it definitely shows his dedication to his industry. I was quite disappointed to hear that Med Ad News was closing after 30+ years, but now I'm glad I don't have to go in search of my pharma news elsewhere.
